Wedding Wednesday: What is more important to you?

Oh my, May is knocking at the door! I can hear the wedding songs, fireworks, and babies screaming because they don’t want to smile. Today’s Wedding Wednesday is all about how important a service is to you.

Kelsey, what do you mean? Everything about my wedding is important to me.

Hear me out and by the end of this post, you may see a different perspective, and save yourself some big bucks.

When you picture the wedding of your dreams, what is the first thing that you envision? Is it a beautiful gown? What about the best photographer in town? When working with a budget, you want to make sure that you have money for the things that are the most important to you.

Here is an example; music is everything to me, I live and breath for music. So having the perfect DJ to play my perfect wedding songs was a must. Something else that was very important to me was the photographer. I am going to see and share those picture for the rest of my life. So guess what I spent good money on? If you guessed the DJ and photographer, then you would be right.

With that being said, I saved money by not having a videographer, because I had a photographer. I saved a ton of money on a venue because we got married outside.  I also saved money on food because my family made it. There are a ton of different examples that I could share with you, but we would be here all day.

So make a list of what you HAVE to have at the wedding and spend your money on that.

Wedding Wednesday: Finding that perfect photographer

When it comes to planning a wedding, I believe that having the perfect photographer is the most important vendor to have. Those memories are going to be shared for the rest of your life, each photo says a thousand words and shares a thousand stories. These are photos of one of the most important days of your life. That is why you need to make sure and find the perfect photographer!

26685230_1387495581362654_8599314658601499806_o

When looking for the right photographer, it is very crucial to make sure that the style of the photographer’s photos is the style that you like. Great quality photos can also be quite pricey. If you go with a photographer just because they are cheap and not because you like their style, you may regret it later on down the road.

If you are meeting with photographers, you always want to ask for the different packages that they offer. Most photographers will usually customize the packages with your budget. Another great question to ask is if they offer a payment plan. Some photographers will work with you if they know that you are on a budget.

You also want to make sure that you mesh well with the photographer when you meet them. If you get a bad vibe or don’t feel as if they are reliable, get away while you still can. You don’t want to have to worry about them canceling on you at the last minute, or showing up late.

One way to figure out if they are reliable is to get in contact with their previous customers. If the photographer has tagged them on Instagram, message them. Don’t be afraid to do your research!

If you are here in Bakersfield, I know a photographer that allows brides to make payments. Erin, with Vintage Roots Photography, also has very affordable and customizable packages starting at just $700. She also offers elopements, cherished moments, and bridal portraits. These are perfect if you are really on a budget, but want memories of your special day.

Wedding Wednesday

This is a very exciting time of the year for me, I love the feeling of starting fresh! Getting a chance to step up my game and make things happen for myself. If you haven’t read the “About Me” page, you totally should. Over there I tell you a little bit more about my personal life. I also share a little fact that I am a licensed Wedding and Event Planner.

IMG_2288

Yes, that’s right. Weddings, birthdays, gender reveal, you name it! I love creating something out of nothing. I think that’s why I love blogging so much. One of my goals this year is to really bring in some traffic to my party planning business. One of my dreams for this year is to be in a Bridal Show! I can just imagine how gorgeous the set up is going to be. Very Modern and Shabby Chic at the same time. Ughhh. Gorgeous.

Loving Plans was inspired by a Facebook career quiz five years ago.

In the spirit of chasing my reality, I am introducing Wedding Wednesday’s to the blog! It’s going to be all about weddings, and some tips and tricks to saving money! I will also share some photos of my previous events so that you can get some inspiration.

IMG_2311

To start the first Wedding Wednesday off right, my biggest tip for weddings is to DIY everything! From the decor to the food, you can save so much money by doing it all yourself. If you are not really the crafty type, find someone who is. You would be surprised at what can come of $5 and items from the dollar store! If you would like to find out, make sure that you are following my blog, I may just have challenged myself!

If you know someone that is getting married, make sure to share this post with them, I can answer any questions they may have. I love weddings, the first wedding that I ever planned was my own. I loved everything from the cake tastings to choosing this gorgeous dress! It’s just my thing. Want to know something cool and a money saver? My grandma made my veil! Her making it was not only affordable but also special because it came from her.

IMG_2268

Another big tip for saving money on a wedding is to give yourself plenty of time to plan the event. If you give yourself 3 months to plan a huge wedding, you are going to need money right then and there to pay for everything. If you plan your wedding within a span of 1-2 years, you are allowing time to save, buy things here and there, and make payments on services.

I hope that this post was helpful, even just a little. Look forward to many more fun posts this year. Starting an Event and Wedding Planning Business: Loving Plans

We are at the time of the year where love is in the air and weddings are everywhere!

If you don’t already know, your girl here has her own event and wedding planning business. That’s right, I know, cool huh? I knew that I wanted to become a party planner the day that I took one of those silly little career quizzes’s on Facebook. Turns out, it was right about me. Taking that silly little test was one of the best things that I could have ever done. I now own a small, local event and wedding planning business. Loving Plans is growing every single day.

Today’s blog post is going to be all about starting an event and wedding planning business. When I first started to look into starting Loving Plans, I had no idea where to start or what to do. I don’t want that to be you, I want you to go into this with at least some knowledge of what to expect. So, enough procrastinating, let’s get your business started!

First things first, before you start your business, make sure that event and wedding planning is something that you are passionate about. Yes, it is fun, but there is a lot behind the scenes that not a lot of people know quizzes. It’s not all glam and easy. There is a lot of sweat and hard work that goes into this business. Just something to keep in mind.

Now on to the good stuff!

When starting a party planning business, you have a couple of options. You can either take an online course to learn everything, or you can intern at local wedding planning businesses. Whatever floats your boat, I took an online course through U.S Career Institute. It was a go at your own pace course, it was an easy read, and the quizzes were perfect. If you can’t afford the course all at once, they do provide payment plans. Amazing, right? I love the choice that I made, I learned more than what an internship could teach me. If you don’t want to go this route, I would recommend interning at a local business.  This will not only give you the experience that you need, you will also be mentored by someone that has been through the ups and the downs. Both are great, no matter what you choose.

Picking out a business name

If you want to become a business owner, you have to pick out a name! When picking it out, you want to make sure that the name is not already taken anywhere, you don’t want to get in trouble for being a copycat. After you have picked out that perfect name, you want to make sure that you keep it. You need to file for a fictitious business name, the price will vary depending on your state. Here in California, it was $35 and I paid $20 to publish Loving Plans in a local newspaper.

Bank account

You will need a place to keep all your money that you earn from each job. The easiest way to go is to open a PayPal account. I love PayPal!

Build your vendor list

A vendor list is important to have when you are building your clientele. When suggesting vendors to your clients, you want to make sure that you and your vendors have a great chemistry. If you don’t really know a DJ that well, and you tell your client that they are the best in town when they are not, that is going to fall back on you with a bad review. And no one wants a bad review when they are just starting out their business. So hit those bridal shows or business mixers and build that list!

Marketing

Time to create your website, social media, and business cards. Your website is a place where people can view your work, check out your prices, and leave reviews. You can share all of that on your social media, and we all know that marketing is basically social media anyway. Leave a business card wherever you go! This would also be a great time to be at a local bridal show, rent a booth and get your name out there!

Make that money!

All that is left to do now is start making that money! Even if you have to work on tips alone just go gain some business, do it. It will be all worth it in the end, trust and believe.

I hope that this post was in any way helpful for you. Please feel free to share this on all of your social media and leave a comment! I will talk to you in the next blog post. Remember to stay confident.

First Impression

The Colossal Spider Effect, Volume Express, Waterproof mascara. Whew! Isn’t that a mouth full? Today I wanted to give my thoughts on this new product and let you know if it does what it claims. When I seen the commercial, I thought that it looked amazing! It gave the model very long, spidery lashes. It claims to have a certain type of bristles that will group your lashes together to create the spider effect. Being the makeup junkie that I am, I purchased it. I also really needed a new mascara, I was pushing the last one to the LIMIT, so perfect timing. Now, without further ado, here are some pictures and thoughts on The Colossal Spider Effect.

This is how the product came, your standard Maybelline packaging. It was around $7.00, pretty decent price for a drug store mascara. I picked up the color Classic Black and I always make sure to get waterproof. I love the outside of the bottle, the yellow is eye catching and the black spider web on the wand handle is straight to the point.

MASCARA DESCRIPTION

When I first opened the mascara, I could see the little cup bristles that was described. It has the cone shaped handle, so very easy to grip. The actual wand is wide on one side, it is bigger at the top and gets smaller as it gets closer to the bottom. When you turn it wand side ways, the wand gets thinner.

ACTUAL APPLICATION

When I first applied the product, you would have thought that today was the first day that I ever wore makeup. Super messy and just got all over the place! I know that when mascaras are new, most of them are runny, but this was more runny than any mascara I have ever used. When I am in a rush, I don’t have time to clean a ton of mascara off of my face. I want to apply and go. Yes, there will always those days when you need everything to go right and it does just the opposite. I get that, but come on now, not right off the bat! With that being said, I don’t feel as if it gave me a spider effect at all! I don’t know if I may be applying it wrong or what, but the whole thing was a disaster. However, I will give it another chance, maybe  I need to apply it a few more times to get the gist of it. I refuse to throw products out that have sucky first impressions. So maybe after a few more applications, I will like the product even more, you never know. I can’t tell you how many times I have HATED a product the first time I tested it, just for it to turned out to be the best product in the world. Never give up on something, no matter what it is, just after the first try. Life can sometimes surprise you.

As for length, it gave me a little, but not like I was hoping. I will say that it did give me plenty of volume, I can always use some of that for my baby lashes (the struggle is real). Here is the application compared to my natural lashes, a difference, but not by much.

So, for my final rating of this product I would give it a 2/5. It was messy, but it did give me better volume and I liked that. It did say on great throughout the day, I haven’t noticed any transfer. Let me know if any of you have tried this mascara, maybe I am doing something wrong. I need to know your secret!! I hope that you enjoyed this first impression, I really liked making it and plan on creating some more. I am also planning a Fourth of July makeup look. If you have any request, be sure to leave them in the comment section. I would like to thank all of you for reading this post, it means the world to me to know that people actual care about what I have to say. I love you all and greatly appreciate you. Once I hit 300 followers, I plan on doing a giveaway, so make sure that you are following me!

Lake Tahoe Trip!

If you have never been to Lake Tahoe, you need to! It is absolutly amazing and beautiful! We just got back from a four day weekend and loved every minute of it!

This is the cabin that we stayed in, these pictures do not do this place justice. Absolutly breath taking.

The purpose of this trip was my aunts wedding. She has always wanted to get married in Tahoe and she made her dream come true. It was a little ceremony, cute and full of people that love her. It was also an excuse to get away from the hot valley. She looked gorgeous in every way that she could.

I wore a romper that I purchased from Charolette Russe, lace up heels and jewelry also from Charolette Russe. Here is a picture of my cousin Raquel, my Hunny and I. After we had dinner (an expensive dinner) and some gambling! A really fun night and will remember it for the rest of my life.

And the rest of the pictures are from the rest of the trip and some site seeing! I hope that you enjoy and if you have been I would love to hear about your experience. If you would like me to post the makeup look that I wore, just let me know in the comments! Here is a little close up of the look.

Another weekend🎉

Ah, another weekend gone by. I feel as if this was a longer weekend then usual. We were so busy and had so much fun! I hope that you all had a great weekend, I would love to hear about what you all did.

Friday was an amazing night, my grandpa turned 66 on the 20th and had a party. I danced and drank all night! The best part about the whole situation is that he lives next door to me, so I just walked home! No driving necessary. He had street tacos, a DJ and all of the alcohol you could ever imagine! Talk about a good time. No hangover that next day, thankfully (Drink responsibly).

Saturday morning my Hunny and I are feeling generous, so we took my sister and cousins out for some good breakfast! My baby sister (Sierra) is to the left of me. I love her little face. Next is my cousin Kynzie, then her sister Kailynne and then our cousin Kylie. My Hunny hates being in pictures, I try and fail every time.

That afternoon ended up being a sister day for Sierra and I. We went to the mall, got ourselves a Jamba Juice and did a little shopping. Spending quality time with family is really important to me. You never know when their last day is here on this earth. Enjoy everyone around you while you still can. Even if you just call them and tell them you love them. Every moment is worth it.

Saturday night ended up being a date night for Brian and I. We went to Me-and-Ed’s pizza for dinner then headed over for some cosmic bowling! That is when I realized how much I suck at bowling, I lost.

This morning we woke up, cleaned the house and was surprised by the Easter Bunny! Just when you think that you are too old for an Easter basket, your Mammy (Aunt Mandi) shows up with one! I love this little lady!

An exciting thing that we did today was take our engagement pictures!!! I can’t wait to see them and share them with you all. It was a beautiful day out today and an all around amazing weekend. We ended it with some friends and a barbeque, the best way to end a night.  Here is a picture from the photo shoot that I took myself!

I hope that you enjoyed this post and I hope to hear from you! Please like, follow and comment! We can become best friends. For any collaborations, please email me.
