Product Review: L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise

Happy Makeup Monday! One quick question, if you could only choose one makeup product to wear for the rest of your life, what would it be? If it’s mascara, you might want to go pick this one up! I love mascara, and this one just knocked more than half of them out of the park. Today I am reviewing the L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise mascara. The color that I picked up is blackest black.

The tube is pretty heavy duty, a chic light pink look. Just simply gorgeous! The wand is pretty big and reminds me of the Better Than Sex mascara from Too Faced.

The mascara isn’t a wet consistency, it’s not dry, I feel as if it is perfect.

Moment of truth:

I rate this mascara a 5/5! It’s pretty amazing, as you can see for yourself. It gives me so much volume, length, and color payoff.

Have your tried this mascara? If so, do you like it?

Stay beautiful.

Makeup Monday: LipSense Review

Oh my goodness! I am sure that you have heard of LipSense before, right? Well if you haven’t, I am here to tell you all about it. Basically it is this amazing liquid lipstick that is known to last for up to 18 hours! I know, crazy huh.

When I received my starter kit, it came in an adorable little mesh bag. It had a color liquid lipstick, a gloss, and an oops remover. It also had the application directions in it. It retails in the US for about $55.00, and you are about to find out if it was worth it or not.

This product is all about application, if it’s applied correctly, the longer it will last. You can find this product mostly online, there are tons of distributors.

Apply three thin layers of color, not letting your lips touch. After color is dry, apply gloss, and then you are ready for your day!

When I applied my LipSense, it had a tingling effect to it. I did some research and it does that to dry lips, so make sure that your lips are nice and moisturized before the application.

This product claims to be:

  • Waterproof
  • Kiss proof
  • Smudge proof
  • Rub off proof

Basically everything proof!

Believe me when I tell you that it is!! My color lasted 8 hours and it looked fabulous at the end of the day! My husband hates when I have lipstick on and he can’t kiss me. With LipSense, he can kiss me all day without a worry that he is going to have red lips himself.

Overall I rate LipSense a 5/5, I am even considering becoming a sales consultant! Let me know if you have tried LipSense before and how you feel about it.

Anti-Valentine’s Day Makeup

Dah dah dahhhhhh!!!!

Hello there, if you are reading this post, then obviously something caught your attention. Could it be the makeup? Or the fact that the title has the word ani in it? Well whatever it may be, I am glad that you stopped by!

Welcome everyone, I have created an anti-Valentine’s Day makeup look for all of you! I have been seeing this look being created all over YouTube. I had never seen this before this year and thought that it looked very interesting.  I hope that you enjoy it, if you have already created a version of this, I would love to see it! Make sure to tag me on Instagram @bakersfieldbeautyblogger.

If you want to figure out how I got this makeup look, then keep on reading!

For this eye look, I used two eyeshadow pallets; one being the Kat Von D Shade and Light Eyes pallet, and the other being the Urban Decay MoonDust. I just love both of these pallet, you can create all kinds of looks! If you don’t have either of these pallets, you can still create this look as long as you have some brow, black, and glitter eyeshadow!

This look is really easy, but it contains a lot of blending and is very time consuming. I do have to say that this look may seem scary, but don’t knock it until you try it! There is always a first time to try something new.

For any eyeshadow look, I like to start out with a light brown shadow in my crease, once that is blended out, I will slowly start to add black shadow on top of that brown. I make sure and  only apply a little of the black at a time. It is a lot easier to build it than to take it away.

Once the black shadow is to my liking and blended out, I am going to add the white shadow to my brow bone to give it a little pop!

Next I am packing on the glitter shadow of my choice to my lid. I am also being very careful when applying it. Glitter tends to get EVERYWHERE! I am sure that I am going to find glitter in my room two months from now.

Once I have the glitter as intense that I want it, I am going to wing out my liner.

Now it’s time to move on to the lower lash line. Since this look is very dark and mysterious, I added black liner in my water line. Then I took some black eyeshadow and ran it right underneath that liner.

I also took that same white shadow that I put on the brow bone, and popped it into the inner corner of the eyes. Since the eyeshadow is so dark, I want to brighten it just a little.

Once that is complete, it is time to throw on some lashes and get them ready for falsies.

Now it is time to pop on some false lashes and BAMM!!! I look good!

My choice of lip is LipLand Cosmetics “Retrograde”. This lip color is very dark and gives a meaning to the whole anti look!

I would like to thank you for reading this blog post! I am sorry that I have been away for a little while, life just keeps me busy. I love you all and will talk to you in my next blog. Xoxo.

You’re Welcome.

Why hello there, didn’t expect to hear from me so soon? Just wait, I promise that it’s worth the read. Doing what I do best, I bought a couple of make up products and need to share them with you. Yes… I said need. The first product is the Urban Decay Moondust pallet. The second is Becca Cosmetics and Jaclyn Hill collaboration, split pan. What a mouth full.

Can we just take a minute to talk about how Jaclyn Hill has been killing it with her Becca collaboration? For those of you who don’t know who she is, you must be living under a rock. Jaclyn creates beauty videos on YouTube and you need to take a couple of minutes to watch one. You will just fall in love with her personality and her eyes. It is mind blowing to think that she started out poor, filming in front of her refrigerator, to having her face in Sephora. That just proves that you can do anything that you set your mind to. She is so passionate about everything that she does and puts so much heart and soul into EVERYTHING. The drive that she has is just unreal.

If you are a makeup junkie like me, then I bet that you have had your eye on these bad boys just as much as I have. If you are going back and forth, telling yourself that you have enough make up, keep reading this post. I promise, you will change your mind. Makeup just seems to make people happier. Well…. me happier anyway.

Here is the magic outside of their package. The Becca packaging is so sleek and professional, the gold just ties everything together. The Moondust is so glittery and fun! It has a magnetic open and close for easy access, which I love.  Both are gorgeous…. I know, but as gorgeous as that is, that isn’t the best part. AHHHHHHHHHH!! Just imagine Celine Dion singing your favorite song in the world and opening a treasure chest full of diamonds. Best day ever, right? Bright, bold and beautiful. Every shade in the pallet and the split pan, swatch like a dream. They are buttery, smooth and are highly pigmented. Everything that I look for in makeup and more.

The Moondust pallet is really out there with the color choices. I absolutely love them. This is not your everyday color selection, I think that is why I am so in love with it. It is completely different from any other pallet in my collection. Glitter eye shadows have been making their way around Instagram and Facebook a lot lately. If you are not really into glitter, I wouldn’t recommend this pallet, other than to look at. Come on, who doesn’t love to look at glitter?

Here are a few pictures of the color swatches up close. From top to bottom; Specter, Element, Magnetic, Light Year.

Granite, Lithium, Vega, Galaxy.

Prosecco Pop and Amaretto.

The Split pan is an amazing creation! It gives you a highlight and a blush that just compliment each other so well. Prosecco Pop is a highlighter that Jaclyn has created with Becca Cosmetics and the collection is limited edition. So, if you don’t have at least one item from the collection, I would hurry up and get something! I wish they created a full size pan of Prosecco, I just want to drench myself in it! Ugghh, I can’t get enough. Hopefull they have already started working on it. Let’s continue, I could ramble about this product all day.

Question of the day: Have I convinced you yet?

Good, now get up and go get them! If you already have either of these products, I would really love to hear your thoughts. There is nothing better than a conversation discussing makeup (I’m serious). Feel free to post a photo of you and the look that you have created with either or both products. Here is a look that I created with the Moondust pallet. I used Light Year and Vega as my main focus point. I tried really hard to make it an ombre look , I promise that I will get better at it.

Congratulations! You have made it to the end of this post. I told you that it was going to be worth it. I am looking forward to reading your comments. If there is a specific color that you would like me to create a makeup look with, make sure and leave it for me. Thank you for sticking around and letting me talk about my favorite things. I hope that you have the best day!

First Impression

The Colossal Spider Effect, Volume Express, Waterproof mascara. Whew! Isn’t that a mouth full? Today I wanted to give my thoughts on this new product and let you know if it does what it claims. When I seen the commercial, I thought that it looked amazing! It gave the model very long, spidery lashes. It claims to have a certain type of bristles that will group your lashes together to create the spider effect. Being the makeup junkie that I am, I purchased it. I also really needed a new mascara, I was pushing the last one to the LIMIT, so perfect timing. Now, without further ado, here are some pictures and thoughts on The Colossal Spider Effect.

This is how the product came, your standard Maybelline packaging. It was around $7.00, pretty decent price for a drug store mascara. I picked up the color Classic Black and I always make sure to get waterproof. I love the outside of the bottle, the yellow is eye catching and the black spider web on the wand handle is straight to the point.

When I first opened the mascara, I could see the little cup bristles that was described. It has the cone shaped handle, so very easy to grip. The actual wand is wide on one side, it is bigger at the top and gets smaller as it gets closer to the bottom. When you turn it wand side ways, the wand gets thinner.

When I first applied the product, you would have thought that today was the first day that I ever wore makeup. Super messy and just got all over the place! I know that when mascaras are new, most of them are runny, but this was more runny than any mascara I have ever used. When I am in a rush, I don’t have time to clean a ton of mascara off of my face. I want to apply and go. Yes, there will always those days when you need everything to go right and it does just the opposite. I get that, but come on now, not right off the bat! With that being said, I don’t feel as if it gave me a spider effect at all! I don’t know if I may be applying it wrong or what, but the whole thing was a disaster. However, I will give it another chance, maybe  I need to apply it a few more times to get the gist of it. I refuse to throw products out that have sucky first impressions. So maybe after a few more applications, I will like the product even more, you never know. I can’t tell you how many times I have HATED a product the first time I tested it, just for it to turned out to be the best product in the world. Never give up on something, no matter what it is, just after the first try. Life can sometimes surprise you.

As for length, it gave me a little, but not like I was hoping. I will say that it did give me plenty of volume, I can always use some of that for my baby lashes (the struggle is real). Here is the application compared to my natural lashes, a difference, but not by much.

So, for my final rating of this product I would give it a 2/5. It was messy, but it did give me better volume and I liked that. It did say on great throughout the day, I haven’t noticed any transfer. Let me know if any of you have tried this mascara, maybe I am doing something wrong. I need to know your secret!! I hope that you enjoyed this first impression, I really liked making it and plan on creating some more. I am also planning a Fourth of July makeup look. If you have any request, be sure to leave them in the comment section. I would like to thank all of you for reading this post, it means the world to me to know that people actual care about what I have to say. I love you all and greatly appreciate you. Once I hit 300 followers, I plan on doing a giveaway, so make sure that you are following me!

Purple Overload

Happy Sunday lovelies!! I hope you all had an amazing weekend. I didn’t post yesterday so I thought I would makeup for it today. I have this purple overload look I created and then I will post all about how I dye my hair! So without further ado, let’s get started.

  • Before I did anything, I sprayed my face with the SmashBox Photo Finish Primer Water. This is going to hydrate your face and get it ready for all of the makeup that is coming.
  • I started with the eyes because I am working with pigment and it can be very messy! I primed my lids with Mac paint pot in soft ochre. Make sure and cover your entire lid.
  • To set that, I used a light shadow called Snow Angel. This shadow is from the Too Faced Joy to the Girls pallet.
  • Out of that same pallet, I took cookie dough and applied that in my crease with a fluffy brush.
  • For the lid I took Urban Decay in Flash and sprayed my brush with a little Mac fix +
  • Over top of that, I sprayed my brush again and picked up a purple glitter pigment. I applied the pigment in the same spot I applied Flash. This is going to make the purple stand out a little bit more. I used Mac’s Fuchsia. (Holiday collection)
  • To blend the crease and lid colors I used Kat Von D’s Metal Crush Eyeshadow in Danzig. Connecting the crease and lid just blend, blend, blend. We don’t want any harsh lines.
  • For brows I went with Ardells Brow defining kit.  This is amazing and affordable. I picked mine up at CVS.
  • Foundation I used Loriel True Match in the shade Natural Buff (N3) and I used my real techniques sponge to blend.
  • For conceal I used my tried and true Maybeline Super Stay Better Skin. I love this stuff!!! I used in under my eyes and any place I had blemishes.  My color for this concealer is Ivory.
  • I set my foundation with Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in 020 Nude Beige.
  • Blush and contour I went with Elf’s St. Lucia. Great colors and only $3!
  • To wing out my liner I applied the NYX glam liner and in my water line I used a black liner from Buxom.
  • On my bottom lashes I went in with a mixture of Morphe’s Radience and the Kat Von D Danzig. Just to give is some color and smoke it so it all looks even.
  • To prep my lashes for falsies I applied Wet n wild mega length mascara. For my bottoms lashes, I used NYX color mascara in purple.
  • Falsies I applied Elf lashes, just the natural kit. These are also $3.
  • To highlight my face I used Becca Moonstone. Absolute favorite highlight shade.
  • Finally, for lips I used Mac’s Heoine! A beautiful purple shade. I have a blog on my top 3 Favorite Mac Lipsticks, feel free to go check it out!

And that’s all! You’re done! If you recreate this look I would love to see it! Tag me on Twitter (@kelseydawnprov1).  Thank you for reading! Please like, comment and follow! I follow back!
