Setting Goals For The New Year: 2019

 

We are about to step into the new year and for most of us, that means that it’s time to plan new goals. Today’s blog post is all about setting goals for the next year. If you are a goal setter like I am, then you’re going to love this post!

When it comes to planning out my goals, I love to set my overall goals and then I also set monthly goals. A tip that I learned from a friend, is that it’s great to set a timeline out for each goal. So without further ado, here are some of my goals for 2019.

OVERALL GOALS

  • I’m going to put all that I can into my blog and Instagram. Writing and creating content is such a passion of mine, so why push it off to the side? This is going to be my year to shine!
  • To piggyback off of that goal, my next would be to have a new blog post up once a week. Content, baby, content.
  • Say yes to more things. A lot of times I will turn down an invitation somewhere because I get scared to try something new. No more of that! This year I will be saying yes to almost everything. I will be even saying yes to myself this year.
  •  Books; Next year I’m going to read or listen to a new book every month.
  • Next year is going to be all about concerts and festivals. I am a huge lover of music, so every concert that comes my way, I am going to make it a point to go. It’s all about the experience.
  • In 2019 I’m going to try my hardest to save as much money as I possibly can. My dream one day is to own my own home. So saving money would help out tremendously.
  • Learn to live a little. I’m constantly working, and if I’m not working, I’m sleeping. Next year I’m going to start taking more time for myself. It’s okay to have fun every once in a while.

Motivational Monday: Don’t Quit Your Daydream!

I cannot tell you how long that I have been dreaming about the day that I would quit my full-time job, just to focus on my passion! For the longest time, I didn’t even know that I had a passion. It took a ton of dumb Facebook career quizzes and countless talks with my family members, to finally realize that I was not destined to have a typical career. I was born to be a hustler, others would call it an entrepreneur.

Back in 2012, I decided to take my last Facebook career quiz. The result led me to where I am today and where I am going to be in the future. In 2016 I signed up for an event and wedding planning course and I couldn’t be happier with my decision. I studied hard and in just six short months, I received my event and wedding planning certificate.

During that time I also discovered another love of mine, blogging. I bought a ring light, a few backdrops, and put in work! I created makeup looks, talked about my beauty favorites, and wrote “What’s in my bag” posts. Since then I have transformed into more fashion, lifestyle, and wedding posts. Hens, certified wedding planner. Eventually blogging led me to Instagram, and who knows where I am headed next.

What I am trying to get at here is that not everyone was born to do the same job. If everyone became a teacher, there would be no doctors. If everyone went for the same career path, life would be boring as hell. It’s okay to step out of the box. I understand that not everyone is going to agree with what I do and I am perfectly okay with that. As long I believe in myself, that is all that I need, (aside from my husband’s support).

As of April 13, 2018, I am no longer working at my Monday through Friday job. I am now a full-time entrepreneur.  That means that I am my own boss, working hard, and proving to myself that I was born to do this. If you ask anyone that knows me, they will tell you that I am not your average 25-year old. I am creative, crafty, and love doing something different every day.

This is just my friendly reminder to live for yourself. Life is too short to live your life wondering “what if?”. Do something that you love and don’t worry about what others are going to say or think. You might just surprise yourself. Hold on to that daydream until you get there, I know that I did.

Soon enough, you are going to see me on the Today Show, telling the world about this exact moment. The moment that I decided to quit my day job to chase my dream job. 

Motivational Monday: Monthly Goal Wrap-up

The first month of the year is gone, just like that. I don’t know about you, but that didn’t feel like a whole month!

In the beginning of January, I set a few goals for myself and hoped to achieve them all. Well, I am happy to say that I did! If you are curious to know what they were, I am about to share them with you.

 

My first goal was to start Wedding and Event Planning blog posts here at the Bakersfield Beauty Blog. So far I have two Wedding Wednesday’s posted and they did quite well!

My second goal was to hit 1,650 followers on my Instagram page. Once that goal was achieved, I then set a goal for 1,700 followers and we currently stand at 1,709. I still can’t believe it! If you’re not following me, you totally should be! I am going to be doing a giveaway very soon! You know what, I will even do you a favor and leave the link right here for you! I know, I am such a nice person.

Goal number three was to take social media photos for two companies. Goal checked off! I had so much fun doing it too!

This last goal, I have been working on for quite some time now. I can’t even begin to tell you how I feel. This goal was to collaborate with Torrid. Yes, you heard right, Torrid. I still don’t believe it, when I received the email, I was almost in tears. The collaboration isn’t up, but be expecting it!

Start 2018 Off Right: 5 NEW HABITS FOR THE NEW YEAR

They say that it takes 66 days to create a habit.

HABIT NUMBER ONE – WAKE UP EARLY

This habit is very hard for me, I love sleeping in until 10am or 1pm (shhh). I always tell myself that I am going to wake up two hours earlier every day and guess what never happens. So to trick myself, I will set my alarm 30 minutes earlier, than the two hours earlier. That way I don’t really notice the difference. Little by little I will keep adding the 30 minutes until I reach my goal hour. My goal is to be a morning person, and you bet you ass that’s happening this year!

HABIT NUMBER TWO – DRINK MORE WATER

Honestly, I have been drinking more water and I feel amazing. My skin has cleared up, I have been in a better mood, and my hair feels so soft! Water does the body good. The best way to drink more water is to carry an adorable water bottle around. That way drinking water is exciting.

HABIT NUMBER THREE – EXERCISE

This one is an obvious habit that needs to take place in 2018. I have downloaded a couple of workout apps, that way the work-outs are already there, no thinking. I will set alarms for working out, even if it is for 15 minutes a day. Something is better than nothing. #squatlife

HABIT NUMBER THREE- EATING HEALTHIER

I hate to say it, but it’s time to give up pizza. Meal prepping for the week is actually a lot easier than you think. Before the week starts, I will go to the grocery store, find some healthy and delicious recipes, cook, and separate. It really is that easy. I even bought some cute containers to make meal prepping fun.

HABIT NUMBER FOUR- READ

In order to create a reading habit, I will read 10 pages a day. If I tell myself that I am only going to read 10 pages, I will get into the book and won’t stop there! Before I know it, I will be done with a book in a few days.

HABIT NUMBER FIVE- SET GOALS

Setting goals are so important to me, they help me get a better idea of where my life is going. Every day I am going to write down a different set of goals; yearly goals, monthly goals, weekly goals, and daily goals. If I am constantly writing them down, I am constantly reminding myself of the badass that I am going to be!

How to Set Goals in 2018

The most rewarding thing about running a blog is that I can write whatever I am the most passionate about. Do you know what that is for me? If you said, goals and positivity, then you would be right.

I can’t describe the feeling exactly, but I can give it a shot. Setting goals for me is like my boss just walked in, and told me that I have a month off of work. Paid. Yea, let that one sink in just a bit. I don’t know what I would do without setting goals, and holding myself responsible for reaching those achievements.

I know that I have done achievement posts in the past, but I have a good feeling about this one. The new year is almost here and I need to make sure that I am prepped for all of the amazing opportunities that I am going to give myself. So grab a cup of tea, shit is about to get real.

I am sure that you have heard this one thousand times before, but this year is going to count. I feel major changes coming and with these goals, they are going to come to life!

January: 

  • Start an Event and Wedding Planning blog
  • Look into Social Media Marketing for local companies
  • Collaborate with different photographers
  • Collaborate with a major brand
  • My blog has grown by 100 followers

February:

  • Host my first blogger meet up
  • Collaborate with a major brand
  • Be a guest on a podcast
  • Plan a wedding for a client

March: 

  • My Instagram has gained 1,000 followers
  • I have launched a podcast
  • I upload videos on YouTube regularly
  • I have gained a social media marketing client

April: 

  • My podcast has hit 100 listeners
  • I have collaborated with a local boutique for my blog
  • I have gone on three hikes
  • My hair is down to the middle of my back
  • I have tried every local coffee shop in Bakersfield

May: 

  • I have started writing a book
  • I have collaborated with a company to create an apparel line
  • I have met some of my favorite bloggers
  • My blog has gained 500 more followers
  • I went on a cruise

June: 

  • I have turned all of my side businesses into a full-time job
  • I love my life and everyone in my life
  • I surround myself with positive people

HOW TO SET GOALS

You have goals in life…. You may not know that you have goals, but you do. If you have told yourself that you’re going to get your husband to notice your new hair, that’s your goal. If you are trying to get all of the laundry done before your mom gets home, that’s your goal. If you are someone like me, then you have so many goals, it is hard to keep track of them all. If that’s the case, then I am here to help. I have created two kick ass lists to help you get your shit together and set goals like a #bossbabe.

Before you even begin to think about what you want, you need to be thankful for what you have. Praise the hard working husband that works 12 hours a day to support the family. Be thankful for the car that you drive around. Be thankful for the house that you live in. Take a second to think back to the days when you were living in a shelter home, and be thankful that you aren’t there anymore. Knowing that your bills are going to be paid on time and your kids are going to be fed is something to be thankful for. Giving thanks is so important, because if you are not thankful for what you have, then why are you working so hard for something that is unappreciated?

Now that you have given thanks to your mom for being the best mother that she can be, it’s time to move on to the fun stuff! When setting goals, you need to keep a few things in mind. This is going to be very important when writing your goals out.

  1. Your goals need to be specific. If you are unsure of what you want, how are you suppose to achieve the goal?
  2. Make sure that your goals are realistic. I am not saying not to shoot for the stars, but they also have to be attainable. If not, you can will discouraged and give up. We both know that you don’t want that, now do you?
  3. Set a time frame for each goal. Knowing that you have a time period will keep you on your toes. It will also get you to achieve your goals before your time is up. You will accept your own challenge!
  4. Take action! List the steps that you need to take in order to achieve each goal.

Take as much time as needed and write down your goals that need to be accomplished. It can be anything; to loose 30 pounds, get the house organized, reach 10,000 blog and Instagram followers. Big or small, write them all down. At this point it doesn’t really matter where they are written, we just need to make sure that we know where the list is in a little bit. You know what, I lied, it does matter where you write down these goals. How about printing out the goals list that I have created for you! Setting goals is fun, isn’t it?

Now that you have created your goals list, it is important to write down the steps that you are going to take to achieve those goals. No matter what the goal is, you need a plan of action! As promised, I have a third and final list for you! This will help you understand what it takes to get those goals accomplished. Print one of these for ever goal that you have.

It’s very important to keep these lists somewhere that you are going to see them every day. Put them in that important binder that you have. Tape them to the inside of your planner. Frame them or even put them on your refrigerator. Wherever you think will work the best, let them shine!

Now all that is left is to have a positive mind set and start crossing those bad boys off of your list! Before you know it, all of your goals will be achieved, and it will be time to make new ones. Have fun!
