5 Tips for Bloggers Taking Photos in Public

As a blogger in a city that isn’t Los Angeles, I get a lot of weird looks from people when I am taking blog photos in public. When I first started blogging, those look from people would bother me so bad, I wanted to stop taking photos and go home. Now I could care less about what people think of me, especially when I am posing to get that perfect shot. In this post, I am going to share 5 tips on how to feel more comfortable when it comes to taking photos in public. If you are someone that is a beast when it comes to taking photos in public, then congrats, you’re winning at life. IMG_5577 2IMG_5578IMG_5584IMG_5590IMG_5591

Tip #1

My first tip is to remember that you most likely won’t ever see the people that are staring at you again. If you ever happen to run into them on another day, there is a good chance that they are not going to remember you.

Tip #2

Take someone with you that you are comfortable around. With them encouraging you, it makes it that much easier to smile, take a great photo, and have an amazing time.

Tip #3

Try to start out somewhere that doesn’t have a ton of people, but still in public. For example, go to a park to take some photos, compared to a coffee shop downtown. Ease your way into it.

Tip #4

Practice makes perfect! The more that you go out in public and take photos, the more comfortable you will feel.

Tip #5

My last tip is just to have fun! Remeber that you are taking these photos for you and your audience. You’re not taking them for the random person walking by. You are obviously passionate about these photos, so anyone else’s opinion shouldn’t matter, so just have fun!

I hope that these tips helped you out a little. I would love to know any tips that you have, leave them in the comment section!

DIY Summer Wreath

Hello there! I know that you seen DIY in the title and just had to stop by! Summer is right around the corner, that means that it is time to decorate for summer! Today I made this cute little summer wreath and thought that I would share it with you. It is super simple and cost me less than $5 to make it.

To make this wreath you are going to need:

  • hula hoop (whatever size that you want)
  • hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • twine
  • flowers of your choice
  • bow is optional

This project is very simple, but very time consuming. All I did to create this wreath is hot glue the twine around the hula hoop until the coop was completely covered. I made sure that that when I was gluing the twine down, I pulled it tight and close together.

Next I hot glued my flowers in place and All done!

Feel free to add a bow, I was going to at first and then decided that I liked it better without one.

Happy Crafting!

Starting an Event and Wedding Planning Business: Loving Plans

We are at the time of the year where love is in the air and weddings are everywhere!

If you don’t already know, your girl here has her own event and wedding planning business. That’s right, I know, cool huh? I knew that I wanted to become a party planner the day that I took one of those silly little career quizzes’s on Facebook. Turns out, it was right about me. Taking that silly little test was one of the best things that I could have ever done. I now own a small, local event and wedding planning business. Loving Plans is growing every single day.

Today’s blog post is going to be all about starting an event and wedding planning business. When I first started to look into starting Loving Plans, I had no idea where to start or what to do. I don’t want that to be you, I want you to go into this with at least some knowledge of what to expect. So, enough procrastinating, let’s get your business started!

First things first, before you start your business, make sure that event and wedding planning is something that you are passionate about. Yes, it is fun, but there is a lot behind the scenes that not a lot of people know quizzes. It’s not all glam and easy. There is a lot of sweat and hard work that goes into this business. Just something to keep in mind.

Now on to the good stuff!

When starting a party planning business, you have a couple of options. You can either take an online course to learn everything, or you can intern at local wedding planning businesses. Whatever floats your boat, I took an online course through U.S Career Institute. It was a go at your own pace course, it was an easy read, and the quizzes were perfect. If you can’t afford the course all at once, they do provide payment plans. Amazing, right? I love the choice that I made, I learned more than what an internship could teach me. If you don’t want to go this route, I would recommend interning at a local business.  This will not only give you the experience that you need, you will also be mentored by someone that has been through the ups and the downs. Both are great, no matter what you choose.

Picking out a business name

If you want to become a business owner, you have to pick out a name! When picking it out, you want to make sure that the name is not already taken anywhere, you don’t want to get in trouble for being a copycat. After you have picked out that perfect name, you want to make sure that you keep it. You need to file for a fictitious business name, the price will vary depending on your state. Here in California, it was $35 and I paid $20 to publish Loving Plans in a local newspaper.

Bank account

You will need a place to keep all your money that you earn from each job. The easiest way to go is to open a PayPal account. I love PayPal!

Build your vendor list

A vendor list is important to have when you are building your clientele. When suggesting vendors to your clients, you want to make sure that you and your vendors have a great chemistry. If you don’t really know a DJ that well, and you tell your client that they are the best in town when they are not, that is going to fall back on you with a bad review. And no one wants a bad review when they are just starting out their business. So hit those bridal shows or business mixers and build that list!

Marketing

Time to create your website, social media, and business cards. Your website is a place where people can view your work, check out your prices, and leave reviews. You can share all of that on your social media, and we all know that marketing is basically social media anyway. Leave a business card wherever you go! This would also be a great time to be at a local bridal show, rent a booth and get your name out there!

Make that money!

All that is left to do now is start making that money! Even if you have to work on tips alone just go gain some business, do it. It will be all worth it in the end, trust and believe.

I hope that this post was in any way helpful for you. Please feel free to share this on all of your social media and leave a comment! I will talk to you in the next blog post. Remember to stay confident.

5 NEED TO KNOW TRAVEL HACKS

I want to eventually make memories all over the world. Especially in Georgia watching my little brother graduate from Army boot camp. By the time that you are reading this blog post, I am getting my shit together to get on a plane and fly out of state. If you have a trip coming up soon, this post is for you. As you can see from the title, I am sharing five need to know travel hacks to make your trip easier.

5. Booking a flight

When booking a flight, for some reason all flights are cheaper on Tuesday’s.

4. Shoes

To keep the rest of your clothes getting dirty from your shoes, put your shoes in a shower cap. This will keep all of the dirt inside of the shower cap and your clothes clean!

3. Jewelry

We all know that packing jewelry can be a pain in the ass, so to keep your necklaces from tangling up, lay them out on a sheet of Glad press n’ seal. Once all laid out, place another sheet on top, seal them together and your jewelry isn’t going anywhere.

2. Separate your clean and dirty clothes

Pack a trash back in your suitcase so that you keep your clean and dirty clothes separate.

1. Hot tools

Pack an oven mitt so that you can throw your curling iron or straighter in it while it is still hot!

Aren’t you glad that you read this? I helped you, right?

I hope that this post helped you in one way or another.

Safe Travels.

Fashion Week: Outfit #3

We have made it to the end of Fashion Week. So sad to see it go, but we are ending it on an adorable outfit from Suzanne Betro.

I am so in love with the boho feel of this top, I received so many compliments when I wore it! If you don’t already know, black is my signature color, it’s a great go to. So classy, comfy, and adorable. The detail on this shirt is everything, the crisscross on the back gives it a more feminine feel to it. Did I mention that this look is also super affordable?

These jeans are a little different from the others. These are bell bottom style with distressed areas. For sure a great statement piece. Especially now that winter is around the corner, it is the perfect time to pick up some cute jeans.

You can find all of the Suzanne Betro on Zulily.com. Hurry and go get your jeans from their new denim collection, you won’t regret it!

Which look was your favorite out of the three outfits? Let me know in the comments!

I would like to thank Suzanne Betro for sponsoring Fashion week this week.

Stay confident.

Blogger Babe Series: Lizzie in Lace

This interview has been a long time coming. Today you are going to meet one of the biggest role models in my social media world. She is an amazing blogger, her Instagram is on point, she works her ass off and it is paying off 100%. Please meet Elizabeth Hugen, the lovely lady behind the brand Lizzie in Lace.  Lizzie is the sweetest person that you will ever meet, I can’t wait for you to get to know her a little bit.

What/who inspired you to start your blog/ Instagram?

I started my blog because I needed a creative outlet away from my non-creative day jobs and because after many failed attempts and roadblocks, I wanted to give my dream of being a fashion designer one last shot before giving up completely. It also stemmed from not being completely content with where I was in my life at that time. I felt that I wasn’t living up to my full potential and although I was going through the motions of what you are supposed to do, I still wasn’t feeling fulfilled. I decided that the only way that I was ever going to be happy was to go against what everyone else thought I should do and just do what makes me happy and what I am passionate about. My passion for fashion runs deep and has been the driving force in creating a life that I truly love. My Instagram account came afterward and even though I started with absolutely no followers because I thought Instagram was ridiculous, it has grown into my largest and most cherished platform that I absolutely adore. As funny as it sounds, I can honestly say that this social media platform has completely changed my life and given me the chance to live out my fashion dream.

How long have you been building your brand?

Two and a half years

What is the next step for you?

My next step is to make this my full-time job….my only job. I have always worked 2-3 jobs at the same time, including now and would love to have the freedom in having this as my only job. I feel like it would be so incredible to have a career that I enjoy, am passionate about and that I can give my all to!

Who is your biggest role model?

LOVE Lauren Conrad!

Do you have a routine when it comes to posting content?

Yes! I feel like routine and consistency are the most important aspect of having a blog. I post every MondayWednesday, and Friday on the blog and usually twice a day on Instagram.

Would you say that blogging has changed your confidence?

Actually no, this is something I am still working on. I’m surprisingly insecure and have never been super confident with myself, but building this from nothing shows me that I can do anything that I set my mind to if I’m willing to put in the time and effort. Seeing just how far I’ve come has given me confidence though. It shows me that some risks are worth taking and that it pays off to never give up on your dreams.

Where do you plan on traveling next?

I’ll be in New York for the first time next week to attend Fashion Week! AHHH!

If you could collaborate with any brand in the entire world, who would it be and why?

I actually have a “blogging bucket list” full of brands that I would love to work with. I have already crossed off a couple of those, but the ones I am shooting, for now, are Kate Spade, Dior, Rebecca Taylor and Zimmermann (among others) because they are my absolute favorite brands in the entire world.

What is your drink order?  (From anywhere and anything)

Probably a strawberry lemonade or green tea.

Who is your biggest supporter?

My husband, for sure! When I was left without a photographer, he took it upon himself to help me out because he knew how important this was to me. We have both learned photography from scratch and are still learning every day. He decided to start taking it more seriously so we upgraded to our first DSLR and the rest is history. What started out as just snapping a few photos so I could get my work done turned into an undiscovered talent and something that he truly loves doing. I’m so excited to see how much he flourishes in the future!

Who is your favorite Instagrammer?

Aside from @juliahengel, I love @amelialiana! Her feed is absolutely beautiful!

Who is your favorite blogger?

Julia from Gal Meets Glam is my absolute favorite ever. I feel like she’s my style spirit animal.

How would you describe your style

Feminine, romantic, whimsical, colorful, put-together. I incorporate a lot of pinks! 😉
