Motivational Monday: Monthly Goal Wrap-up

The first month of the year is gone, just like that. I don’t know about you, but that didn’t feel like a whole month!

BOSSBABE

In the beginning of January, I set a few goals for myself and hoped to achieve them all. Well, I am happy to say that I did! If you are curious to know what they were, I am about to share them with you.

My first goal was to start Wedding and Event Planning blog posts here at the Bakersfield Beauty Blog. So far I have two Wedding Wednesday’s posted and they did quite well!

My second goal was to hit 1,650 followers on my Instagram page. Once that goal was achieved, I then set a goal for 1,700 followers and we currently stand at 1,709. I still can’t believe it! If you’re not following me, you totally should be! I am going to be doing a giveaway very soon! You know what, I will even do you a favor and leave the link right here for you! I know, I am such a nice person.

Goal number three was to take social media photos for two companies. Goal checked off! I had so much fun doing it too!

This last goal, I have been working on for quite some time now. I can’t even begin to tell you how I feel. This goal was to collaborate with Torrid. Yes, you heard right, Torrid. I still don’t believe it, when I received the email, I was almost in tears. The collaboration isn’t up, but be expecting it!

That wraps up all of my goals that have been achieved! I would love to hear some of the goals that you achieved for the month of January! I also would like to let you know how much I appreciate you!

Stay Beautiful!

How to turn a bad day into a good day!

I’m sure that you have had one of those days before when you wake up and everything goes wrong. As soon as you open those big, beautiful eyes, you can already tell that everything is going to shit. You woke up late, you burnt your forehead on your hair straightener, and now you can’t find your keys. I have one of those days about twice a week, trust me, you’re not alone!

Instead of letting that day continue to go horribly, here are some things that you can do to change the way your day is going to go.

The first thing that you can do is take a deep breath. Bring your thoughts to your attention and tell yourself that you are going to have an amazing day. Or cry….. Whatever helps. I’m just kidding, but stop and give yourself a minute to forget about all of those terrible events and think of something that makes you happy.

The next thing that you can do to change your day is to go somewhere that makes you happy. If you are at work, take a break and go get some coffee. If coffee isn’t your thing, go do something that is your thing. Grab a cupcake, go for a walk, take some selfies, whatever you need to do to make yourself feel a little better.

If those aren’t doing the trick, read your favorite quote. Read something that will put a smile on your face. If you don’t have a favorite quote, go to Pinterest, they have tons for you!

If you have tried all of the above and nothing seems to be working, call someone that you love. Just let it all pour out to them. If no one will answer, message me, I’ll pick up!

Quick and Easy Hairstyle

I always have those days where damaging and taking the time to do my hair, just doesn’t sound pleasing. Am I alone on this, or do you have those days too? For today’s post, I am sharing a simple and quick Hairstyle that will be perfect for any occasion. You can rock this look to the gym, a party, work, and even a date!

For this Hairstyle all that is needed is:

  • Some type of comb to split your hair into two parts
  • Some clear elastics
  • Topsy tail tool

You can purchase all of these items at your local drug store.

  1. Part your hair into two parts down the middle, (like pigtails). Tie away the half of hair that you will be using later, and then the other half we are going to section a portion off. Take about a quarter of your hair and tie it with a clear elastic.
  2. Now stick the topsy tail tool through the top of the section that is secured by the elastic.
  3. Pull the ponytail upward through the hoop of the topsy tail tool, and then pull the tool down through the pony to create the topsy tail.
  4. After the first topsy tail is created, grab another section of hair while adding the first section, and continue. You can create as many sections as you would like. I usually do about four on each side.
  5. Repeat on the other side, and there you have it!

This hairstyle takes less than three minutes to create!

Start 2018 Off Right: 5 NEW HABITS FOR THE NEW YEAR

They say that it takes 66 days to create a habit.

bossbabe

HABIT NUMBER ONE – WAKE UP EARLY

This habit is very hard for me, I love sleeping in until 10am or 1pm (shhh). I always tell myself that I am going to wake up two hours earlier every day and guess what never happens. So to trick myself, I will set my alarm 30 minutes earlier, than the two hours earlier. That way I don’t really notice the difference. Little by little I will keep adding the 30 minutes until I reach my goal hour. My goal is to be a morning person, and you bet you ass that’s happening this year!

HABIT NUMBER TWO – DRINK MORE WATER

Honestly, I have been drinking more water and I feel amazing. My skin has cleared up, I have been in a better mood, and my hair feels so soft! Water does the body good. The best way to drink more water is to carry an adorable water bottle around. That way drinking water is exciting.

HABIT NUMBER THREE – EXERCISE

This one is an obvious habit that needs to take place in 2018. I have downloaded a couple of workout apps, that way the work-outs are already there, no thinking. I will set alarms for working out, even if it is for 15 minutes a day. Something is better than nothing. #squatlife

HABIT NUMBER THREE- EATING HEALTHIER

I hate to say it, but it’s time to give up pizza. Meal prepping for the week is actually a lot easier than you think. Before the week starts, I will go to the grocery store, find some healthy and delicious recipes, cook, and separate. It really is that easy. I even bought some cute containers to make meal prepping fun.

HABIT NUMBER FOUR- READ

In order to create a reading habit, I will read 10 pages a day. If I tell myself that I am only going to read 10 pages, I will get into the book and won’t stop there! Before I know it, I will be done with a book in a few days.

HABIT NUMBER FIVE- SET GOALS

Setting goals are so important to me, they help me get a better idea of where my life is going. Every day I am going to write down a different set of goals; yearly goals, monthly goals, weekly goals, and daily goals. If I am constantly writing them down, I am constantly reminding myself of the badass that I am going to be!

I hope that you are just as excited about the new year as I am. I would love to know some of your habits that you are going to create this year. Do me a favor, share this blog post with someone that needs some inspiration for creating habits. As soon as I hit 2,000 I am going to be hosting a huge giveaway, so make sure that you spread the word. As always, stay confident!

7 Tips for Growing a Business While Working a Full-Time Job

Having a full-time job and running a few businesses on the side can be quite a challenge. I have; a 9-5 job, I run this blog, I am growing my Instagram account, I run a Poshmark closet, and I own an event and wedding planning business. All while being a wife to my husband and being a mom to my Rottweiler baby and my siamese cat. For today’s Work it Wednesday, I am going to be sharing a few tips with you that can help you work while you work.

7 tips

Tip 1. Wake up early

Waking up an hour earlier each day can give you the extra time that is needed to finish that blog post or post inventory that you didn’t have time to do the night before.

Tip 2. Have a daily routine

Having a daily routine will help to stay organized and make time after work for your business that you are hoping to leave your 9-5 for.

Tip 3. Set Goals

I know that I am repetitive with this tip, but I am going to share it again. Set goals for yourself.  Setting goals will keep you on track, with a full-time job, getting side tracked is a very easy thing to do.

Tip 4. Make time for your future business

Utilize every break that you have. Instead of playing Uno after lunch, pull out your laptop and get those e-mails out. Post to your business Facebook or Instagram. If you are a PoshBabe, share those clothes on Poshmark and figure out a way to make that sale. If you are trying to break 1 million Instagram followers, make sure that you use your 15-minute break to reply to every single comment.  whatever you can to make that extra dollar while you are not getting paid for that one-hour lunch break.

Tip 5. Set timers

Setting timers will also help to manage your time correctly. Give your self only so much time in the morning to do your makeup. Have a timer set for cleaning the house, that way you don’t stay up all night cleaning and getting carried away. Set a timer for daily meditation and affirmations. Saving time will help you succeed, remember, you have the same amount of hours in a day as Beyonce.

Tip 6. Keep a journal

Having a journal with you at your 9-5 is perfect for jotting down all of your business ideas. This tip is perfect for those that have the best ideas during very random times throughout the day.

Tip 7. Take a day off

Allow yourself a day off, if not, you will get burnt out fast.

Well, there you have it! 7 of my biggest tips for running a business while you have a full-time job. It can get hard at times, but just keep chugging along. You didn’t get this far, only to get this far.

A Celebration List

Work, work, clean house, some more work. Ugh does it ever end? How come I have been working for the last three days, and still feel like I haven't accomplished anything?? I have crossed some things off of my list, so why is there so much left? It's because I am looking at my list all wrong. You heard me, all wrong I tell you!

Every Monday morning I sit down with my coffee, listen to a podcast, and write a list of everything that I need to accomplish for the week. That's normal right? As the week goes by, I will cross off everything that I have done on that list. Well when I look at that list at the end of the week, I get so pissed off at myself when I look at everything that is still unaccomplished.

One morning while I was sipping my amazing coffee, I was listening to the Style Your Mind podcast, hosted by Cara Alwill Leyba. She explained that she writes a celebration list. At the end of every day or every week, she will write down everything that she had accomplished during that time. So instead of kicking herself, she celebrates herself for all of her hard work.

What a brilliant idea! I will make two separate lists, one for everything that needs to be done for the week, and another for all of my celebrations! If I keep throwing out negative thoughts out into the universe about my list, guess what the universe is going to hit me with?

So from now on, I will be writing a celebration list to go along with every to do list!
